“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”—Mark Twain (via imleavingyoumylegacy)
“You still cross my mind from time to time. And I mostly smile. Still so set on finding out where we went wrong and why. So I retrace our every step with an unsure pen, trying to figure out what my head thinks, but my head just ain’t what it used to be. And then again, what’s the point anyway?”—La Dispute Andria
Dear Nicole, I know you’re scared right now, but please stay calm and carry on. College applications and senior year can be stressful but look at it this way, it’s half over already. Its just high school. Who actually does what they plan to do these days? Nothing ever goes as planned. Where ever you choose to go will be the best, because it’s meant to be. Please just try and enjoy the time you have left before college. Miss Doug but dont miss out on life while he’s gone. He means a lot, but not everything. Just stick with your heart and remember what’s the best thing for you is always going to be the right choice.
“Weren’t we all crazy in our sleep? What was sleep, after all, but the process by which we dumped our insanity into a dark subconscious pit and came out on the other side ready to eat cereal instead of the neighbor’s children?”—Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
“Each day I wondered what would happen next. What would happen when you would stop wanting. when you would stop being happy with me. I knew I would mess things up by growing bored. I had done that once before”—No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July
“I love you,” he whispered, and that was the moment he knew what he was going to do. When you loved someone, you put their needs before your own. No matter how inconceivable those needs were; no matter how fucked up; no matter how much it made you feel like you were ripping yourself into pieces.”—The Pact by Jodi Picoult
“Of course it hurt that we could never love each other in a physical way. We would have been far more happy if we had. But that was like the tides, the change of seasons—something immutable, an immovable destiny we could never alter. No matter how cleverly we might shelter it, our delicate friendship wasn’t going to last forever. We were bound to reach a dead end. That was painfully clear.”—Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami (via thechocolatebrigade)
“I hated labels anyway. People didn’t fit in slots—prostitute, housewife, saint—like sorting the mail. We were so mutable, fluid with fear and desire, ideals and angles, changeable as water.”—White Oleander by Janet Fitch
